For what ever reason, I can not send a Private Message on this board. You plan sounds good to me. I can have my dogs ready by then. The guys that hunted with you Sunday morning may come to the next hunt. They are looking for fast beagles.
We could possibly do something at Charleston sometime. The club house is availible, I have a key. LOL. _________________ Dave Haugh Member #23936

Alright Dave, Maybe we could get one on the schedule for here and their. A week apart. I could run in September, we`d just have to mow a few paths. Rabbits are really having a good year around here. I`ve got baby rabbits all over my yard. Let them fish recover for a while and get to running them beagles. We could get together some morning early. _________________ Lazy people are soon poor, hard workers get rich...Proverbs 10:4 |

I will be fishin' until late August almost daily (I am waiting for the rain to quit this morning) . Then, some days may be better for fishin', some days better for beaglin'. Maybe, I can get the guys that run with you Sunday to run some this summer. Rudy talks a lot of beaglin' but doesn't break that much brush. He is more of a retriever guy. He has trained some Champions.
The local coon club owns some ground next to a public hunting area. I think a couple of rabbits may stay on the club's property (40 acres). It is just a couple of miles from where Cumberland County used to have ARHA trials. Some of those guys are coon club members I see at the coon hunts. I will talk some beaglin' to them.
Yeah, I have a lot of yard rabbits this year also. I can't hardly raise a cabbage or a green bean without having a fence around them. My garden is next to my beagle pen but the rabbits are not afraid of the beagles unless I turn them loose. LOL. _________________ Dave Haugh Member #23936

I guess you know where you can come if you need some cabbage.LOL
As far as the old cumberland county club goes, they had some good running, and its not that far. I`d love to be able to trial over there. It should be a good area. _________________ Lazy people are soon poor, hard workers get rich...Proverbs 10:4 |

There are lots of Federal ground that can be rabbit hunted around Lake Shelbyville. I used to know some beaglers in that area. They used to hold ARHA trials in Shelbyville. I am a member of the Kaskaskia Coon Club at Shelbyville. I believe they are a PKC coon club. They may want to put on a PKC Rabbit Hunt sometime if there is enough interest.
They used to have a beagle hunt at the old Fox Hunter's Club at Pana. I do not know if they still do anything with beagles.
I know the Coles County folks better and I will work in that direction first.
If we could get several clubs going, it may create some interest. I think folks would like the PKC beagle rules and PKC's integrity. _________________ Dave Haugh Member #23936

Thats alright Toby. I honestly wasn`t expecting too many to show. We`re past the time for real good running. The hunt was simple to put on and we all had a great time. Maybe you can make our next one. Look`n @ Sept. We still haven`t set any dates yet. Where is your club in IN. I seen one in Danville? Ithink. Looked like they were having some Monday evening hunts. I wouldn`t mind hitting a couple of them. _________________ Lazy people are soon poor, hard workers get rich...Proverbs 10:4 |

I attended the first ever PKC Beagle Hunt held near Boonville. Frances Gail and I occasionally go by Boonville on I-64, we know where it is at. We ran in the old strip mine areas when we hunted there. I was a great spot.
Unfortunately, it takes close to 3 hours for us to get there. That is just too far for us to travel for a beagle hunt. Maybe, we will try a hunt sometime but traveling to Kevin's is more reasonable for us. Getting some clubs going in the area would be better for us but finding folks that want to do more than just talk about it can be tough. _________________ Dave Haugh Member #23936

Rudy is a good friend but I only see him when he wants something. LOL. You must have inspired him some. He always liked gun dog beagles and I let him try a good one. He said she was too slow, he wanted a fast one now. I know for a fact she is a good rabbit dog that doesn't need any help. Well, I have sure enough got some fast ones but they are not for sale. He may not find a fast one unless he is real lucky. Usually, fast beagles cost more money than he will spend. The dog he tried wasn't that slow but she runs 4th in my pack. Of course the 3 that run ahead of her are Hunting Beagle Champions that won by running ahead of the rest. Pedde is a Dual Grand Champion.
Rudy works his retrievers just a half mile behind the house almost daily. He has Champions. If he ever put the effort into beagles he puts into his bird dogs, he may come up with something.
Rudy may help put on a beagle hunt sometime. Maybe, he will find a fast beagle.
I haven't been running my beagles but I sure have been catching some big fish. I mean bg fish. It is much cooler out on the water. I will start on the beagles in a couple of months. _________________ Dave Haugh Member #23936

Dad Gone Dave, You better save some of them fish up and we`ll have us a big fish fry after the next trial. Heck, we could have one this weekend!
What are you catching now, crappie or catfish? It don`t matter, either will work good for the fishfry _________________ Lazy people are soon poor, hard workers get rich...Proverbs 10:4 |

As you can see by the video, I catch plenty of fish. But, I don't clean them, I give them away.
If you didn't live so far away and would clean the fish, I would give you all you wanted.
I hope to do a beagle video of the next hunt. _________________ Dave Haugh Member #23936
